Gory Goodness: Insidious

2010 **Spoilers Ahead**

Insidious is one of those movies that to me seems like people either loved it or hated it there was no middle ground at all. I for one loved it and found it terrifying in some places.

This is one of those movies that had me hooked right from the get go. The story here is that a young boy called Dalton is in a coma after something happened to him in the attic of his house. He does not wake up and months pass by.

Renai the mother stars to see weird things in the house and she is convinced that the house is haunted. Some of the stuff that she sees and hears is really quite freaky. Anyway she begs and pleads with her husband Josh to move, and he agrees.

However the haunting continue in the new house with Renai actually seeing ghosts. Her husband does not believe her, but she tells his mother who just so happens to be friends with a medium. She and her team of ghost hunters go to the house to find out what the hell is going on.

It turns out that Dalton is what is called a traveller. And he has the ability to leave his body, but he has not made it back and he is stuck in a place called The Further. The Further is a place that you certainly do not want to be trapped in. There is a demon in the Further that wants Dalton’s body so he can cause pain and suffering in the human world. We also learn that this is an ability that Dalton got from his father who also was a traveller as a child. They need to do all they can to get Dalton back to his body before the demon gets it and the best way to do this is for Josh to relearn his traveller ability and go in the Further and bring him back.

Insidious is a movie that is full of jump scares and that to me is worth the price of admission alone. I do not watch a horror movie for a sharply written script. And yes the story is not the best in the world, but I still found it very interesting. This is a movie that has been on Netflix for ages so if you have not seen it yet give it a try. Just do not watch it alone with the lights off!!!!!
