Now I’ve seen this topic debated primarily on Twitter with people telling the lead writer on Borderlands 2, Anthony Burch that the character Tiny Tina is a racist character because of how she talks and she does use some form of what people called “African American lingo”, although I prefer to leave it at slang.
I just played through this part of the game just last night with my buddy Kyle and I have to say that I don’t see what all these racist claimers are talking about, I believe Tiny Tina is an amazing and hilarious character and she’s actually one of my favorite characters to be introduced in a game during 2012; she’s easily in my top 5. Plus, the fact the she is a child and using all this slang isn’t too different to what children do today, I think she’s a fun and incredibly insane character that I love.
So many people complained to the point where the writer said he would change her if it bothered that many people, I truly hope this doesn’t come true because from what I saw only a bunch of white people are claiming it’s racist…they really don’t have a say to if it offends them since what they believe is offensive is in no way offensive too them. In general, they’re stupid for saying she is racist.
We live in a society today where people are way too soft, to find Tiny Tina offensive is purely pathetic; she’s a very different character and a breath of fresh air into the game. She instantly became one of my favorite basically because of how she talked; her slang just makes it all that much better. People can get offended and complain all they want, but I believe its characters like Tiny Tina that prove why Borderlands 2 had one of the best writing in all of the games released in 2012.
