Mark Wahlberg The Father Of Captain Kirk In Star Trek?

Surprisingly enough Mark Wahlberg was almost casted in J.J. Abrams Star Trek as Captain Kirk’s father but he ended up turning it down. He made the decisions due to not being able to understand the script, but was surprised to find out how great it became later on.
Mark said “I remember J.J. Abrams asking me to play Captain Kirk’s father in Star Trek,” though he just didn’t have any interest with the script at that moment, he even admitted he’s never been that much of a big fan of the sci-fi genre
Mark said “I tried to read the script, but I couldn’t even I didn’t understand the words or dialog or anything, and I said, ‘I couldn’t do this. I think you’re really talented but I couldn’t do it.’ Then I saw the movie and I was like, ‘Holy s***, he did a great job’.”
Abrams will be releasing Star Trek into Darkness on the 17th of May and is directing Star Wars: Episode 7, so he’s got to be extremely busy lately.
I find it kind of weird that Wahlberg almost got the role of Kirk’s father; do you think that Mark Wahlberg would have been able to pull off a great performance if he had taken it?
