I have been a Simpsons fan since the show was first broadcast here in the UK. I still have my Do The Bartman vinyl record somewhere in the attic. Anyway I have played pretty much every single Simpsons game that was ever released. And while many people think that the majority of them are pure garbage. I have enjoyed many of them if I am honest.
If you do not count the Xbox Live and PSN release of the Simpsons Arcade game. The last time we got a Simpsons game was in 2007 with The Simpsons Game. Which I liked. The story was great, but the damn camera cost me more lives than anything else. If the camera had not bees as bad I am sure the game would have gotten much better reviews.
Still the game sold reasonably well so I am unsure why EA have not pulled the trigger on another Simpsons game for the home consoles.
If you are a iOS gamer then I am sure you have heard of the Simpsons Tapped Out which is like one of those town building style games, but with a Simpsons twist. Well EA have reported that this game has earned them a ton of money. So I am hopeful this will make them at least consider making another console Simpsons game. Or it could have the opposite effect and make them just concentrate on the iOS.
Either way I am really surprised at the lack of games based on the Simpsons. It is a franchise that could easily support a game every couple of years. Another surprising fact is that it is EA who hold the Simpsons license and we all know that EA are not shy about releasing games from a particular franchise on a yearly basis. So what on earth is the reason for there lack of activity with the Simpsons license?
